Danone connects with consumers through NFC - Over 20000 hits so far
For a 4 month period, with over 400 Tags at supermarkets, in clinics, and at home, Danone's Baby Nutrition division in Asia leveraged the ease-of-use of NFC to help a hundred Moms explore various services around education on motherhood and parenting topics. Danone's Baby Nutrition business in Singapore announced the first results of their NFC pilot in Singapore. Danone's Information Services partnered with the Singapore sales unit in this innovation initiative and believes that NFC will change the way people interact with information in their day-to-day life, from home to points of interest, in an opt-in way. Danone equipped a hundred Moms with NFC phones and chose to bring easy access educational services to the moms' mobile phones at various locations where there would be a specific need or interest for information.

Germany's largest health insurance fund to receive new batch of second-generation microprocessor cards
Gemalto will issue an additional 15 million second-generation eHealth cards ("eGK", elektronische Gesundheitskarte) to AOK in 2012. AOK ("Allgemeine Ortskrankenkasse)", the Health Insurance Fund, looks after around 25 million people, approximately one third of the population in Germany. Last year alone Gemalto issued two and a half million health cards for the German National Health Insurance Scheme. In the joint, large-scale project, Gemalto is responsible for the entire card production process for Germany's largest health insurance company. From production and personalization through to fulfillment services, Gemalto is demonstrating its excellence in operation.
Winning teams will each receive expert advice and funding to bring their winning apps to market
Two teams of budding developers were awarded kick-starter funds after being named winners at Isobar and O2's 'Isobar Create London', a 34-hour challenge which brought together the UK's best developers and designers at the Shoreditch Studios in London. More than 65 people from 5 countries attended the event and made up the 20 teams that went head to head at the UK's first Near Field Communication (NFC) developer event. Team Rollercoaster, a team that included students from the London School of Communication Arts, won funding from BlueVia for its app that revolutionizes queuing at theme parks and other attractions. The app uses NFC to help theme park visitors pay for and secure their place in a queue for a ride, as well as offering other features to enjoy while they move along the queue. Team Blue Butterfly, meanwhile, won the £10k fund from Proxama for 'Tap-to-WiFi', an intuitive app that uses NFC to allow people to simply tap to connect directly to WiFi in bars, cafes, hotels, airports etc. Separately, London BBDG developed a supermarket-shopping app that uses NFC to help people tailor their shopping experience to their diet, scan products from the shelf for easy check-out and more. The team won an all-expenses-paid trip to BlackBerry Jam 10 conference in Orlando.
